On our second morning we decided to ride some of the Hill Country roads around Fredricksburg.
We were going to go by Luckenbach, but missed our turn somehow.
We did manage to find the Old Train Tunnel, which was kind of interesting.
The early morning ride through the hill country was really nice.
A little before noon we decided we had better get headed towards Alpine if we were gonna make it by dark.
Shortly after we left Judge Roy Beans place we noticed a cloud bank in the Northwest. Sure enough we ran into a cold front. We figured we were gonna get rained on but it never happened. We did stop and get out our warmer clothes for the ride on in to Alpine.
We were just a few miles outside of Alpine when we stopped to take this picture. Alpine claims to be "The Land of Sunsets", and after seeing this one, I can't argue with them. It was also quite chilly "not what Bob called it" by the time we stopped to enjoy the sunset. That was a welcome relief from the heat we had been riding in all day.
