Metal Detecting Finds, 2004. Pictures on this page are of some of the items Suzanne and I have found during 2004. Since getting our metal detectors in November of 2003 we have found an assortment of things and had a lot of fun doing it. We joined the local metal detecting club, The Rusk County Treasure Hunters Association, and have enjoyed getting to know the members of this club and hunting with them from time to time. |

I found this little 10K Gold Dove charm at one of the Henderson School play grounds.
|
|
|
I found this old brass name tag while detecting around an old house site in Henderson.
After doing a little research on C.C. Vaiden I was able to locate a phone book listing of him in 1934.
The listing stated, "Clarence C. Vaiden, Cattle Inspector, Tick Eradicator". The 1930 Federal Census
listed him, his wife and two daughters. As far as I know, there are no Vaidens in the Henderson area today.

Mr. Claude Gray lost this Silver and Turquoise Ring one afternoon while working on his car.
He contacted Suzanne and I and ask if we would try to locate it for him. Mr. Gray had received
the ring many years ago as a gift and was very happy to have it returned to him. Mr. Gray is a
country and western singer. You can listen to some of his music on his web page.

Suzanne found this item one day and we believe it may be an old hood ornament that held some kind of
glass decoration that has since been broken and lost. |
|
|
Suzanne found this old Zinc Fruit Jar lid at the same house site where I found the C.C. Vaiden
Cattle Inspector tag. Don't see may of these that are not broken or cracked. |

|
We didn't find this group of bullets, but they were found at the Mansfield Civil War Battle Ground. |

|
OK, so Suzanne has found two silver dimes to my one... quit reminding me, she does plenty of that already. |

These are the coins Suzanne has found in 2004. She has quite a collection of wheat pennies and TWO Silver Dimes.

This is a picture of my grandfather's old steamer trunk with my cat Sister checking it out.
This old trunk had lots of old photographs and letters in it that I am still sorting through.

Old Saddle Ring Suzanne found on another school yard. |

While Suzanne was finding jewlery I managed to find these coins. This Quarter is the second
Silver Coin I have found since we started metal detecting. It sure looked nice coming up all
clean and shiny out of the dirt. It was about 5 inches deep and gave a very soft signal in
the head phones. |

All these items were found in three differnt school yards in the course of a couple of days.
The Pendant on the right is a Senior 1995 National Honor Socitey Pendant. The item on the
bottom right is some kind of medallion Suzanne found. Looks like it got wacked by a lawnmower. |
